We made it
We are in france :] was a bit sudden, about 2pm yesterday the news said they were accepting tuesday tickets so made a dash for it , got a train straight away but due to train running late we were to miss the last paris connexion so ended up having to find an hotel and jump out in lille. All train next day were full but were allowed on the 6am one and made it to Avignon ...yipee |

Bree Louise, Laibach & Juno Reactor (Sunday) Sunday was very grumpy and tired start as just was awake too early…and wanted more sleep but just wasn’t happening…I was later joined by Simon and we made our way to Bree Louise for food and beers …interesting dark rum truffle beer and some tasty dragon wind welsh cider….We then all made our way to ULU, strange to be in work vicinity on weekend. Got in at 7pm , then at 7.30 Laibach confused us by coming on stage…they were as fab as always, very pleased they played some of the anthems and famous numbers I really like. I just found his voice so hypnotic…even when he just talked it’s intense, loved it…such a magical way to end the gig year. Then after the break Juno reactor came on, I have to say never heard of them, had no idea what to expect…at first I was pleasantly surprised as it was very unexpected, lots going on on stage: Zulu dancers & preaching rave rapper . It reminded me to my Return to the Source and Whirl -y -gig days, love some of the elements like the tribal, ethnic components, the fab girl voice, the mix and match of style and energy but not the repetition and dance bits. Most of the tracks seemed to go on and on, he seemed to be preaching a lot and I just couldn’t get into it that much…we watch about an hour and decide to have an early exit .

Invocation and long straigth hair :) Saturday was very efficient, got up earlier than I wanted but ended up having lovely stroll around Camden market in the cold sunshine, picking last few unplanned presents and a much needed pair of stompy boots all furry and wintery. The afternoon was spent packing, tidying the flat, and lots of boring must do tasks. It all went smoothly and on time, I was even able to join Patricia for some mulled wine at hers and Christine birthday celebration at Invocation.
I also played with some straight hair bit from bring and buy ..not had long straight hair in a long time...

Friday: Bid Red, fire hoola hoops and Beauty of Poison Last day at work, I cannot imagine I will do much as I am just too upset. I will try to at least remember the fun weekend. Friday I spent lovely evening catching up with Serena, Irene and Tom…delicious home cook dinner, followed by Big Red. They had a Christmas party, it was absolutely packed, and we got a free show and free test tube shots. From sexy fire show, jigsaw fire, fire hula-hoop’s, burlesque striptease, amber serenading, and a rock n roll band…very much fun…afterward we went on to the Gaff for beauty of Poison, which was also free entry .I just love that pub the dark carved gargoyles and impressive dark wooden furniture, fireplace, red walls and very jolly atmosphere… did quite bit of dancing and ended up staying till about 3ish…. Great way to start the weekend… ( Photos ) |

Worried beyond belief
I spent the weekend in ignorant bliss, involving lots of fun and clubbing, although a few mentioned some problems , i hadn't realised the gravity of the eurostar problem...i am really stress and worried i won't be able to go to france. This really sadden and upset me. Simon and I are supposed to get on a train tomorrow and until 6pm tonight we won't even know if there will be train and if so will have to hope like thousands of others that we will be able to get on one and catch our train connection to south of france. I am glad i didn't catch the news all weekend so i could have lots of fun in ignorance , now i have seen them I just want to cry . |

Had a wonderfull time last night untill the journey home. Cerry's knitting party was really good fun and I caught up with old uni friends ate cake and did not attempt knitting as it confuses me and had lots of very random discussions. I left at about 11 and headed for invocation. Lots of chatting with friends, dancing and very yummy vegan cake plus the night ended with one of my favourite nephilim tracks. We stayed till the end and then caught the bus to hackney. There was a man hovering over me I ignored him assuming he was just a bit wierd. We caught a taxi back to woodford and when I went to pay realised my wallet was gone I assume this was down to wierd hovering man so Glenn payed. So at 4am I was trying to find a bank statement and cancel my card. accidentally woke Mum up who managed more successfully to find an old statement of mine. Cancelled card and went to bed. Annoyingly I keep a lot of stuff in my wallet also I now have no debit card so my family have leant me some cash till my bank send me a new one. The main things I need to replace are Tesco points card (although I have a spare on my keyring) English heritage card Tate card Slimelight membership medic alert card with allergy details Really can't remember what else was in there so can't be anything that important. I guess I also need to get a new wallet! |

2009 in Gigs Having a little end of the year looking back at the year in gigs, a good year but fewer , will have to wait and see what 2010 will bring for live music…(and still one more on Sunday) The 2 bands I saw the most were unsurprisingly exactly the same as last year …although sadly only 4 times each this time Inkubus Sukkubus (x4) Rome Burns (x4)
I think my those 5 were the highlights of the year for me: Rosa Crux (BtV) Faith & the Muse (London) Inkubus Sukkubus (Sheffield) Tarja (london) Sieben (BtV) But there was so many other great bands enjoyed this year…I just love having a little think back , cheers me up and makes me all excited about future gigs to go and enjoy ( Read more... ) |

This week been mainly about catching up with friends and partaking in a little mulled winery product. Last night lovely evening with batpuss, from toffee cheesecake to a facebook crash course :) And there was still no snow when he left and still no snow this morning…however I really felt the icy cold this morning when doing the recycling as those bins were covered in ice, my little finger still red and recovering… At the moment we seemed okay for our days travelling but this eurostar striking menace is a worry… |

What I've been up to + Top ten gigs this year
Been a while since I posted, mainly because I have spent a lot of time indoors. However, I did make it to the Christmas meal at Zetgeist that erming had organised and had a fantastic time. Great beer, food and company, it is a shame that Emily was too ill to make it. However, we did have a really nice curry at our local Indian restaurant last night. Definitely must return there at some point too. The Saturday before Zeitgeist I did venture into Basingstoke goth nightlife attending a one off Zombie night at the Bang Bar. Was good and unexpected to see postie_chris there, I'm hoping that there will be more goth nights at that venue. It has been quiet on the gig front though over the last couple of months. I thought about going to the Nightbreed all-dayer but was put off by the 20 pound on the door charge for the event. I remember the days when you could 3 nightbreed acts at the Duchess of York in Leeds for about £3.50. Thats inflation for you over the last 12 years! Nevertheless, I did see the 13 Candles performance as the gig was streamed on the Nightbreed website. I meant to watch Two Witches as well but forgot. Speaking of gigs, I have been seen far fewer bands than in previous years partly because of the move further away from London and also doing just the one summer festival this year. Anyway, I have done a top ten for the last 5 years so why stop now. This years top 10 is as follows. ( My top ten shows of 2009 )I may at some point compile a gig of the decade list though only a maximum of two of these would make that top 10 list I think. |

Damn that clashes with Beltane Bash and Inkubus Sukkubus playing there too... at least not clashing with WGT this year :) |

Only Wednesday and Laibach I really struggle getting out of my warm comfy duvet this morning…then discover some idiot decided to put all the many months of uncollected mails gathering on the stairs in my bike basket…at least thanks to M&S I have been delighting in a few too many winter warmers…yesterday me and Patricia sample their mulled white wine, very nice although I still prefer their mulled cider continuing with lots of fab Lebanese food.
On Sunday is my last gig for 2009 Laibach at ULU. Great way to end another fun year for gigs.

Reptile & Mulled cider (Sunday) Reptile on Sunday was pure fun, I really need to try to go there monthly as the music was just fantastic, I haven’t dance that much like that for a good wee while…love the weight of wearing my new hairfalls for the evening… especially bouncing to ratm or rammstein, although as I have a bad habit of singing along I did ate a lot of purple fluff…The afternoon was mainly spent chattering and drinking mulled cider with Ade and Audrey…later we collected Liana and had a bit of a mad dash on the tube to get there before 7pm to get the cheap entry and then the evening flew, very surprised how packed it was considering it was Sunday and 2 very good gig also on same night, a very impressive buffet, stevek very big birthday chocolate cake and just top fun night…dance, dance, dance…
